Whitehill Golf Club, Ware, Hertfordshire - Tuesday 18th August 2026

Its difficult to know where to start with giving a report and overview of the day, but here goes .....

As many of you will know this day was set up and organised to showcase, promote and celebrate the CGS. The seed was planted back in April 2025 where some members were enjoying a drink after a CGS monthly fixture. Colin Lewin, Dave Lewin, Paul Rogers, Rich Rogers and Patrick Jacobs were sitting talking how they could entice new prospective members to the society. The idea of the Invitational Day was discussed and how we could run a day that is totally different to any of our usual monthly fixtures. Talks continued and a final plan was made over "drinks" when the above named members were in Portugal playing golf.

A letter was sent to the committee asking if they would agree to a sub-committee to run and hold an annual Invitational Day to take away extra time pressures from them in running it. The day was then signed off and agreed and the process then started. So much so to the day we ran in 2025 and then into this year.

Sadly Colin passed away in May 2026 but was adamant even knowing he would sadly not be there to make sure the day went ahead and to keep making it as good as it could possibly be. Colin loved the CGS and it was an absolute honour to be able to rename the day as "The Colin Lewin CGS Invitational Day" for ever more.

The same sub-committee got to work on how we could tweak that blue print but keep the same elements that were received so well in its inaugural day in August 2025.

A massive thank you to each and every person who attended, sponsored a hole, helped run the day, brought a guest and put their hand in their pocket. It would be too hard to name every person but you know who you are! Our amazing special guests in Richard Pinner and Rick Wakeman for the entertainment - wow what a true highlight.

Our thanks to Andrew, Amanda and the staff at Whitehill Golf Club for all of their support and help as always - the home of the CGS!

We feel its safe to say that the day was a huge success yet again and has now become a highlight of the year to get the date in your diaries ASAP. Lets spread the word even further and make 2027 even better.

Our thanks to you all once again - the 2026 sub-committee.

Dave Lewin, Patrick Jacobs, Rich Rogers, Paul Rogers and admin support as always from Genevieve Miller.
